That there is not enough depth in it, you may be right.
As far as the light and shadow are concerned, the intention was the light source should come from the rising sun.
So I think the shadows are correct.
...
I'll try to adjust it with more time.
...

For if and when you will have time and desire to improve your outcome:
- for the diamonds shadows you should consided that the shapes (the sides) are inclined 45°
- also re-consider the shadow of the figure, that shadow could be realistic only with a sun at eleven o'clock, a rising sun produces a long unshaped shadow.

Thank you for the welcome back, OMG.
Every square its own light, that's another idea, and the energy for that coming from the "sea sparkle" :)

Diego, I edited my result. I hope it is better now. I still have my doubts about the shadow behind the woman.
I looked at the shadow of the dog on your avatar as an example because it is also a long shadow.

Ella, I guess you can do a simple check about the shadows yourself, it's quick and easy:
1. put a small light on your desk (a small abat-jour), at one end of the table and sit at the other end

then, to check the shadows of the diamonds:
2. take a pen or a pencil in your hand and put it in front of the light, shifted left to check the left sides
3. look at the shadow while keeping the pen standing
4. you will likely see a shadow close the the one you put on your original drawing
5. now lean the top of the pen to simulate the 45° of the left side of the diamond
6. you will see the shadow going left
hence your correction was in the opposite direction it should have been
the same is true (in the contrary direction) for the right sides
I try to draw this check in the next post (please wait, I'm old, and my hands not very efficient)

Now, about the figure, here is what happen.
You can check it placing a small statue in front of your abat-jour and looking at the shadow projected on the table.

Almost perfect, Ella.
Except for the right side shadows which should have been in the opposite direction (the two "objects" are inclined in a specular way with respect to the light source).
Attached a rough indication

Thank you Diego, and it's no fussiness to point out to me the wrong direction of the shadows.
I still have a lot to learn in that area, light and shadow, perspective ... I appreciate your helpful comments.

And Issabella, thanks for your always positive responses :heart

Thank you for your comment, Erisian. It was fun making it.
The fishbowl I made earlier but thought it was a good combination with the outcome.
Dream or reality of what the children see ... who can tell?

Ella- such an excellent image/manip result, shows we should appreciate what young children see in their minds, dream or otherwise indeed :hi5 :)

Oh sorry Diego, I had overlooked your nice comment
Thank you!

Omg, we definitely need to let children dream and fantasise, especially in these difficult times.
Thanks for your kind words.
