Dinasset : thank you for the kind words - working through and trying to catch up on these. I am having a great time experimenting

Issabella : I agree with you that some of these will work better on some types of images rather than some others - mainly by style and subject: portrait, outdoors/nature, architecture, etc

--I have seen where posts say to scale very large images to a manageable size before applying filters, etc.. That makes sense. I scale to just larger than my screen size or less, depending on the final usage :
-- question: 300 dpi vs 72 dpi ? do you stick to 72 dpi for electronic media and 300 for print?

I always only reduce/increase the size to a predefined width+height, because many filters which I apply have a behaviour dependant on the size, so I want to have always the effects I've seen in the tests.
Never change the dpi, nor print my outcomes.
So, you are right: re-post the question elsewhere (but if you search thu Gimchat you will find many posts already related to dpi and print).
