Hi,

I don't know GIMP. But I think I came to the right place! I'm looking to learn the basics of GIMP. I already found a helpful video on Basics by Jolie. Thanks!

Welcome to GIMP Chat !

GIMP may not be the most intuitive program, but it's very powerful in terms of functionality (The GIMP Art forum here has a good variety of things you can do).

I don't know about Western fonts specifically, but the Text tool will allow you to place text. If you don't have the right font you'll have to install it... and how that's done depends on your OS, not GIMP.

Caelan and Anthony. Ask questions. We have a lot of very able helpers here in Gimp Chat. Enjoy yourself. We have a lot of fun here.

Anthony, here's a link to some western fonts.
