Gruß Herbie
I successfully downloaded your
wunderbar HN-Pfeil-zeichnen in `plug-ins` and HN_Bibliothek in `modules`.
Firstly, the user manual Plug-in HN-Draw-arrow.pdf is completely amazing with its 47 pages.
However do not
necessarily translate HN-Pfeil-zeichnen into HN-
Draw-arrow since HN-
Draw-arrow does not exist physically in the MagentaCloud.
Why "Draw" with an uppercase letter? In German, “Pfeil” begins with a uppercase letter but not “zeichnen”. Why this inversion name-verb into verb-name?
It is sufficient to explain “Pfeil” = arrow and “zeichnen” = draw as you wrote page 21 for the settings. For example “Muster” = Pattern.
At first glance, the Graphical User Interface of your plug-in could be simplified.
For sure, German sentences need more room that the corresponding English translation.
However the large dialog box hides a significant part of the Gimp editor except in dual screens.
We can only increase the size of the dlgbox but not reduce it to a classical dlgbox.
Consider that the splash window at startup does not have any vertical scrollbar to read everything and cannot be resized: this means that there are too many informations already written elsewhere.
Your dlgbox does not need to display any parenthesis in the upper listbox “Arrow style”:
For example “Dash arrow” is sufficient.
Do not explain “(path segment, round shaft and arrowhead of lines)” since it is written in chapter 2.2 of the user manual and captured in “Arrow types and their appearance.png”
Who really does wish to draw an arrow having a thickness of 500 pixels? You could
dramatically reduce the width of the spin box. Factorize “Filling type of” that appears three times. And so on.
The frame “Current Hints” is really too big.
"Now select the “Paths” tool in GIMP, ensure the “Design” editing mode and move the start and end point of the path to the desired arrow positions.
Then make the desired settings using the plugin and GIMP user interface."
=>
"Click Toolbox

“Paths Tool”. Tool Options Edit Mode [x] Design. Move control points.”
Bubble helps should not be written on
three lines but only one line should be a good abstract. Less is more. Explain the minimum in the plug-in.
The user manual can be read in full screen mode.
In the MagentaCloud, you supplied some examples such as “Example
; Labeling arrow.png”. Using “
;” inside a file name to look like a sentence is in reality complex.
It is the Gimp format .
xcf that would be more interesting in order to understand what your plug-in generated as layers and paths.
I am interested in the little
red arrows and red rectangle with round corners but not in giant funny arrows. Your default preset should be ready to draw your red little arrows used in the user manual. How did you draw the red rectangles with round corners? With HN-Form-zeichnen?
What about the red numbers? How to write them in a little circle with transparent background?
“
Exit” and “
Abort” buttons seem complex for a dialog box. Try other plug-ins.
The universal “
OK” and “
Cancel” is simpler. You use yourself the term of “Cancel” to explain the frightening “Abort”.
Do not confirm cancellation with another dlgbox with the idea icon.
Consider the simplified alternative “usage”:
- The user draws a basic path oriented as she wants.
- Then the user clicks
Filters > Shapes > HN-Pfeil-zeichnen > OK
This draws the predefined little arrow in red.
Pressing "OK" is similar to click to "Draw" if the user forgets to click to Draw.
- Press only one Ctrl+Z to UNDO the entire arrow and its layers preserving the initial path.
In other word, the plug-in should enter an UNDO group to cancel everything in only one UNDO.
Tschüß
