Laptops have a habit of shutting off like Willy says when they are too hot. We have had this happen often so we went out and bought a fan that sits underneath the laptop that plugs into the USB. It works great. It was $20, might be cheaper there in the States...
This isn't the same model but it is almost the same.
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=NP8&cat=FAN yes, i keep it on a cooler pad, but it just doesnt feel even warm. i've worked on a LOT of electronic devices over the years and i agree with everybdy, heat is the biggest destroyer next to stupid people, but this thing just isn;t hot, or even warm. I used my infrared thermometer which is pretty accurate to monitor the air temp coming out and it's barely above room temperature.
