Final comment: sometimes the texture (especially on small images like those I used) can cause an excess of drawing lines, hence the user can try one of the following manual adjustments:
1-reduce the opacity of "sketch layer" to 50-60%
2-try replacing DARKEN_ONLY mode with LIGHTEN ONLY (i.e.applying white lines override instead of black lines override), still using a partial opacity.

Note on the comment: the user modifications are immediately effective, because in my outcomes the top layer (final result) is not visible, hence changing modes and opacities of the layer below operates.
Obviously only if you run the filter with "flatten=no" (always recommended during trials).
