Using the GAP plugin to edit videos and add special effects!
Make sure to watch in 1080p in fullscreen... it looks alot better!

Can you not just use the master videoencoder and convert the multi-layered image back into an avi? It's easier than importing the individual frames into a movie making program.

I don't know that the video encoder is available on Windows (though it should be, since it's based on FFMPEG/Mplayer).

In fact, if you have Mplayer available then there is a rather nice interactive dialog for selecting your input range (available by holding down SHIFT while clicking on the "Video Range" button in the Input Video Selection dialog.

@Saulgoode:

I have Mplayer available, but I've just noticed that, as I usually use an mplayer based extraction, using videorange I cannot load any videos. I receive the following error on every video format:

Execution error for procedure 'gimp-file-load':
Unknown file type

Any suggestions? I would like to check out that which you mentioned in your last post.

Great use of the GAP plugin for adding dynamic video effects! GAP’s Animation Package in GIMP is powerful for layering, keyframing, and applying opacity or transform effects—especially when rendering at 1080p fullscreen for optimal clarity. For smoother workflows, make sure your stepmode and frame settings match your intended output.

You do realize that this is a 14 year old posting?
GAP has not been updated in years, with many functions broken.
Also the GIMP Animation Package (GAP) is not compatible with modern versions of GIMP,
especially in GIMP 3.0 or newer.
