Where are you downloading gimp-2.99.19 from? A new release? Because i thought gimp-2.99.18 was the final development release before gimp-3.0

I compile it from source. 2.99.18 is low tech compared to 2.99.19

Rod It's not an official release, but our current ID as we work on GIMP is 2.99.19. The next "official" release with be 3.0 RC1. If you don't want to build from source, you can download the nightly Flatpak or the weekly Windows installer here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/p ... _schedules

Note that these are just snapshots of our current work, so while they have a lot of bugfixes compared to 2.99.18, there may also be incomplete work.

I have a pretty much guaranteed way to solve the crash once and for all by making many of my plugins (mini-plugins)

You know how custom bevel has many blend modes. I'll have to make a custom bevel filter for each individual blend mode if I want to solve the crash. Instead of having blend modes in a drop down list you search the blend mode you want to use Custom Bevel (Hard Light) Custom Bevel (Grain Merge) Custom Bevel (Plus) ect... That is the only fool proof way to prevent the crash.

Blend mode switchers appear not friendly with NDE Gimp.

But surely they will one day.
Just be patient and give the GIMP team time to fix all the issues.

Evidence is coming in that this bug may be solvable in some cases by adding this code to many of my plugins

static void
dispose (GObject *object)
{
   GeglProperties  *o = GEGL_PROPERTIES (object);
   g_clear_pointer (&o->user_data, g_free);
   G_OBJECT_CLASS (gegl_op_parent_class)->dispose (object);
}

static void
gegl_op_class_init (GeglOpClass *klass)
{
  GObjectClass           *object_class;
  GeglOperationClass *operation_class;

  operation_class = GEGL_OPERATION_CLASS (klass);
  GeglOperationMetaClass *operation_meta_class = GEGL_OPERATION_META_CLASS (klass);

  operation_class->attach = attach;
  operation_meta_class->update = update_graph;

  object_class               = G_OBJECT_CLASS (klass);
  object_class->dispose      = dispose;

  gegl_operation_class_set_keys (operation_class,

HYPOTHESIS DEBUNKED - IT DOESN'T WORK!

Update - source code of all sactioned plugins - binaries are coming soon - they no longer use Malloc

Because none of my plugins use malloc in GIMP we we have a plugin for each bevel blend mode.

Sad news. My plugins are still crashing on closing a tab and GIMP even when references to malloc and state-> are gone. My plugins are ultra simplistic and have pure gegl syntax but the crash still occurs. :(

GEGL gives no warning why the crash happens. GEGL assures me my syntax is perfect. The problem is how GIMP stores information... it might not be able to store huge amounts of GEGL nodes but this was never a problem in GIMP 2.10 because everything was destructive. I'm losing hope I can't do anymore.

I'm doing the ultimate nutjob with no life challenge, Add one GIMP Plugin at a time and see if it causes a crash after using it for 5 minutes. If the plugin does not cause a crash after 5 minutes of use consider it clean, then test the next plugin. Look to see what plugins offend and which ones don't. This is going to take a long time.

The plugins that do crash will be shown to GIMP's team and investigated further. This is tedious unfun work

ok. the first plugin I tested "SSG" crashes GIMP 2.99.19 on closing tab, opening existing .xcf with it or closing gimp. Based on its code I see no offenses

GIMPS TEAM MAY HAVE OFFICIALLY FIXED THIS

:yes

GIMP Developer Jehan may have just solved this problem once and for all meaning GIMP 3 users can use normal repos not the special bunker, but still be cautious I haven't tested everything yet. Still huge relief

More evidence is pointing in the direction that this is entirely solved and the GIMP 3 bunker repo will be removed in a few days! I'm excitied

The crash doesn't seem to happen if syntax is correct, but if syntax is not correct it happens

The only error I am getting now is the remove_children error and it seems uncommon. Still I have to respect its limitations. Which means the GIMP 3 bunker repo may stay but it will be much larger and include more plugins.

I am planning on using the gegl dispose command in hopes of solving the remove_children error. Attached is the error
