I am very new to Gimpchat, as I only joined about five minutes ago! Although, an existing member 'Jolie' was sweet enough to have posted my first tutorial here at the beginning of June. :tyspin Jolie!! This is my new one, I hope you like it. - http://scruffyrobot.com/tutorials/gimp- ... wallpaper/

Hi scruffyrobot. :welcome to Gimp Chat!

That's a very nice tutorial. Looks like the real thing.

I love the Brown Bag font. Had to download it.

I looked over the Scruffy Robot website and that's a really cool website, too.

Looking forward to more tutorials from you. Keep on gimping! :paint

Hi!

Thank you Oregonian, 2-ton and Jolie for welcoming me and checking out the tut and for saying nice things!

Also, Rod that looks really fantastic! Thanks for doing the tut. I love that you drew a pencil and carved the desk too, I totally should have thought of that!

You could use that design to make a cool blog. Graphically, the blog could look like your handwritten notebook. :bugthumb

I have been working on this for a couple hours. It went well until the binder rings! I could not get them to look right, but finally had to settle for ugly rings. There must be an easier way to do them! I tried to follow the original tut instructions to the tee, but 'fail'. I'm done with the basic part, but have to go to work now and can't finish up until another time.
*well, I would upload my pic but the uploader isn't working for me today. Maybe after work my computer will be more cooperative.
**decided to go via Photobucket

Hi 2-ton,

Thank you for taking time to do the tut!

Those binder rings don't look ugly at all, they look great!!! As does the rest of the picture, obviously!

Also, GnuTux! Very cool idea for a blog. It would look more like a diary or a handwritten acount this way.

There are a few sites (I can't remember their names) where you can turn your own handwriting into a font, so it would be even more personalised. (You probably already knew that!)

The rings are not very good looking at full size! I am not done, I still want to do the handwriting and thought I'd also 'tape' some pics onto the left liner of the binder. It's really a nice tut, this is prolly one of the first pics where I have learned to build the parts layer by layer!

Hi 2-ton,

Thank you so much, that's a really sweet thing to say!

Also, that is such a great idea to 'tape' pics in the binder because I remember I used to that when I was at school! I can't wait to see the finished article.

It's so great how everyone who has done the tut, has improved upon it in some way. It's quite a buzz!

Thanks!

Well, did some more work on this. If I use it for a poster, I will probably put in another pic and more text on the lined paper.

This is mine so far... Have not done everything I want to do to it yet. I added a pocket, cause I like to use the ones with the pockets for things like receipts, recipes and notes. I really like this tutorial! Thanks for such a fun thing to do!
