So if you read the other threads you'll notice that I have started a plaid pattern site (free use personal/commercial,no restrictions).

I like it lots because users can like patterns and view their liked (IP Liked) list. and the result is we know which ones are popular.

Another feature I really like is that for the each pattern's title/name I can use a link linking back to where I got the colors from. I really like this feature/ability because well that's what this post's title is about hahaha.

Right now it's linking to gimpchat.com mandala's posts (omg's) because I used some of omg's mandalas.
Others link to colorhunt.co where I use their palette.
Others link to unsplash.com images.

When you click on a pattern, it shows you a full-resolution 1024x1024, then what the pattern looks like repeated on a larger canvas. and also what half pattern and it repeating looks like and a 0.5x0.75 pattern what it looks like repeated as well.

I like this way more than blogging format as blogging you don't get to see many patterns all at once and there's no vote feature.

There are 45 patterns now. But I'll keep adding more. As far as free hosting limit goes 5GB limit will allow me to add up to 5000 patterns.

i like looking at many at the same time...maybe because it feels like looking at variety of works by multiple people.

For now I'll focus on plaid but I can see this same model expand into other patterns or even all patterns in general. Where anyone can submit 1024x1024 patterns and I just upload and we crowd source the voting.

We can turn this topic into one where you can submit image that they'd like to see plaids made from.
and I can turn them into 6 varieties of plaids on that site and link back here.
Any volunteers wanting to submit image they'd like to see plaids created from? Rod? this will grow more roots into gimpchat.com which is great (I think).

It's even better now that I added views (based or logged by IP so stats isn't skewed by refreshes).
You can sort by likes | views. and you can see All | Your liked ones.

Ever thought abut generating a pattern on the fly using the visitor's IP?

yeah I had a version that generated plaids on names or just strings so IP would work.
What I found was it was too random and lots came out not looking as fancy as manually picked.
Maybe my random color method made it look like garbage, if given the palette and then randomly generate thicknesses then it would look better.
What are you thinking?
something like automated plaid pattern for user avatar when they don't customly pick one? heheh
Or are you thinking like generate one when a new ip visits so that as the site gains more visitors it gains number of patterns?
they're all good ideas. I am not sure if I will implement them though, maybe in the future right now I enjoy seeing the collection manually grows.

Added auto process to use palettes from colorhunt.co, so I just have to review them so it's much faster to add new ones.

Which each plaid pattern, now you can click on the shirt icon to get a pattern cut in the same of a shirt with shading like this. so you can get a feel of what it might feel like on plaid pattern if was put on a shirt.

Mocked shirts looks even better now with rotation of the texture to match the arms angles and collars
so much fun

Even better now, rotate centers at elbow so that the arms looks like it's continuous and not cut out fabric.

better yet still hehe, user can now change angle of pattern and dimension of pattern to get there custom mockup
