That's great if you like cats. My Gimp loads in less than 3 seconds so if you blink, you'll miss the splash screen. I did make a custom one just because though.

No worries that I might not see the splashscreen. My computer is old and slow ... like myself :hehe

@nelo, thank you!
@racer-x, nice one!

PS. I may make a couple more splashes in the next days just for fun (will depend on my free time though).

Ok, I made a few more guys.

It's the same main concept but processed in 4 different ways. Actually I was debating whether I should post them as splash-screens or as artistic compositions. Anyway, I added a minimalistic GIMP 2.10 label on them and I'm posting them as splash-screens lol.

The biggest effort, by a great margin, was put in the 1st one, which is also my personal favorite (maybe not as a splash-screen though). Your mileage may vary.

Right-click on the ones you like, then "Save Image As..." to save them in your hard-disk.

The forum allows 3 attachments per post, so I'll attach the 1st one here and the remaining 3 in a new post.

Wallace, good idea! Some of your splash screens are superb.

Migf1, Love your kitten splash screen! Looks a lot like our newest feline family addition.
The lion and human faces are cute also.

Nice collection there Wallace!

Thank you Pat625! Kittens are sooooo cute :)

The biggest challenge in the "human vs. lion" was to match their color and luminosity, because the human's source was in full color while the lion's was in an almost monochromatic tone. Matching their luminosity was the hardest one. Isolating the lion from its background was cumbersome too, especially its mane (which is not shown at full in the screens).

Once that was done, the rest was a matter of further manual retouching along with running some filter combinations. However, rage-02 is the only one using a free filter (G'MIC's Artistic | Dream Smoothing). The rest use paid ones (DXO Nik Collection 2 and Corel PicToPainting). Their end-result can be also accomplished with free filters, but for me it was easier to use the ones I'm used to.

Here is my splash screen for Gimp-2.10.32. If it weren't for that pesky loader it would be invisible. ;)

Thanks you guys!
:bigthup

I haven't made a splash screen in quite a while.
These are the splash screens I currently have installed,
which are my favorites.

Thanks! This is the first time i have made one that doesn't show the top bar of the splash screen. Usually you see a gimp startup bar on the top. I wonder if there is a way to hide the load bar. That way you could still see the scripts and plugins loading but not the progress bar.

Here's a splash screen with another idea of a Wilber update.

Double A's...
All the work I did on that image and it still went unnoticed?
Good thing I saved the xcf file.
