Strange brush issue

I have gimp 2.10 and I'm having a strange issue. when I try to use a brush it just keeps rotating. I have spent 2 days trying to figure it out but haven't had any luck. I just started using gimp again after not using it for several years and boy how things have changed.

Which brush is it you are trying to use?

This could be a "brush dynamics" issue?
Access the "Brush Dynamics" settings within your chosen paint tool,
and then ensure there are no options selected.
If the "Basic Simple" brush dynamics option is selected,
this will rotate the brush.
