I am not able to install Gimp 3.0.2
I've been watching quite a few tutorials related to my installation problem. I want to install and run Gimp 3, from here.

After resolving the download by disabling system security, I managed to get it downloaded.
While running the program in EN as usual, almost at the beginning, the "crash" warning appears.
In another tutorial, I was told to remove all previous Gimp software, all from previous versions of GIMP. I did it and I removed it and put it on a separate drive.
I tried again, and the same thing. I was not able to get it to run.

Maybe try a different location to unpack as administrator, e.g. d:\Gimp_3.0.2_Portable_clang (works without problems for me).

Valuable diagnosis Wallace.
Attempting to launch it via GIMP_ES.exe will not only fail, but will also prevent any other attempt to launch Gimp3.

To confirm:
after restarting your computer try launching 'Gimp_3.0.2_Portable_clang' using GIMP.exe.

But this is easy to fix.
There is a bug in the Parametres_Gimp_Lang.ini file.



Solution:

just replace:
GIMP_EXE=gimp-2.99.exe

with:
GIMP_EXE=gimp-3.exe



This little mistake doesn't explain the problems with unpacking though (if I understand correctly: because in this case, installing means unpacking, not running Gimp).
Maybe try the latest version of 7-zip:

You are welcome Issabella. Remember to Customize when you first install if you get the weekly installer to work.
Because every new install will just reinstall over the last install with the same customization.

From your short description it is hard for me to guess which version you managed to run (either from Rod's post - the latest development version, or Gimp_3.0.2_Portable_clang by Samj)?

I did not find any mention of "changing EN.exe" in the whole topic.

My previous working version of Gimp is 2.10.36 from Samj portable.
I took the EN.exe from that version and replaced it in the one from Gimp 3 (3.0.2 clang from Samj portable, too).
Can you believe that's what I understood I should do? Anyway, it worked!

What you did shouldn't work at all (and without any worries it may be the cause of some configuration problems).
The samj version has a few starters for different languages ​​and a text file Parametres_Gimp_Lang.ini.



There was one error in this file - specifically for the _ES language, and using it without correction is so flawed that it suspends any Gimp3 launch.
Attached is the Parametres_Gimp_Lang.ini file corrected in line 87.

Then, must I replace that item for the one you has posted?
But I use the EN.exe no ES.exe

Replace Parametres_Gimp_Lang.ini and restore the original GIMP_EN.exe.
(Do not mix files from different Gimp versions).

If this does not help, I am leaving GimpChat (because you asked for help from a guru and I am not one)

Installed the new Gimp_Lang
replaced the original EN.exe
and it didn't work.
So, I leave it with my mistake by replacing only EN.exe from my previous version.
Now I see this

To you Gimp experts,
after several tests, I can confirm that: I'm talking of Samj versions.
Changing the Gimp.exe file with one older version so that Samj's Gimp 3.0.2 version would start working, didn't work.
By mistake, I changed EN.exe from the previous version to the new Gimp 3.0.2 version. To my surprise, the program started working.
I don't understand why, but that's how it is.
