Im having a problem with the fonts. When I have my text tool dialog box open it says "Monopspace". and I am not able to change it. Ill use the drop down menu and find the font I want to use but when I click on it it does not open. Ill try writing in the name of the script in to the dialog box and nothing happens. I tried using the font option tab in the tool box and still am not able to change the font. Ive tried multiple types of fonts including ones I have used before and I still get the same issue. The only font that works is Monospace. Ive deleted gimp and reinstalled with a new version and I still have the same issue. I am using windows 10 on two different computers and I am having this issue with both of them

Is this still an issue for you?
If so can you please post a screen shot (including the tool options and layers dialog) and let us know your OS and gimp version.
By the way you may need to make 5 posts before being able to post pictures. Just reply to a couple of posts and the introduce yourself.

Start by opening GIMP first. Then,
from the Main Tool Bar and Go to > Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Click on "Fonts"
This will open the Font window where you can scroll down and select the font you want.
By defaults its the upper right area. You can click on attachments to see the full size.

Now Press the Letter "D" and then "T" on the keyboard.
1st or next change the Font Size to the PX you want for now.
2nd or Next Left click with your mouse some place in your work area for your text to display.
Now type some text you want.
3rd scroll through your font list on the right and click on the font name you want to use.

Now if you need to make adjustments, like size and color, for now
make them in the Text Window on the left and not the one above your text until you master this.
There are 2 different ways to do all this, but this is the sure way and the simplest way for
learning Gimp.
