Anyone heard of Proton mail, use it? Recommend?
Says it is private - is it?

I do not use it but it always comes up in "best email providers"

Plus point - based in EU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton_Mail

Free only gets you 1 email address. It is an encrytpted service - depends on how paranoid you are - rule number 1 - do not put anything insecure / controversial in your emails.

The old usenet gang will know this one ubj pbaprearq ner lbh ;)

Give it a try and let us know your thoughts on the service.

I lost my old long standing email when I dumped Virgin Media but still have a couple of gmail accounts also a dubious safe-mail.net (really old-fashioned interface but good as a backup) Also gmx.com, free, plenty storage, ok even with adverts.

A lot of sites I frequent use Proton. Have no experience with this myself but do know it's been around for quite a long time. Usually used for someone who wants complete control of their email as I understand it (i.e, no one can supposedly read your emails but you). Let me know if you decide to use Proton and how you like it, Sallyanne. :)

Would recommend Proton or Tuta for privacy and security. Both offer post-quantum protection.
