Thank you Cecilia. I will give that a try. I think this one may be better. still a touch of black tho.

it may be related to how thick the font face is........

in my experiment I picked the color that was the middle tone...about here:

try to zoom in on your image to find that 'sweet spot'......I know it's tricky because I had to try a few times

Cecilia, After you used the color picker where you showed in your scrn shot, did you use the color numbers that came up with that for the (colors to alpha) step?
I think this is the part where I am having my problem cuz I am following the numbers that were in the tutorial for that step.
thanx

yes, at first I too used the hex color number in the tutorial. and when I saw that it didn't quite remove enough I zoomed in and examined the font. Then I picked where :colpick the color should have been removed and noticed it was not the same color number as the tutorial. copied that number and used in in the Color to Alpha window.

it could be affected by the font face or whatever, but tweeking is just part of the Art of this thing

Blowing my own horn here but my random-ellipses script could be a good way to generate random drops.
Script here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-to ... s/scripts/

Please go here to post any more Water Drops Images. Thank you.

This thread is a mess but I don't know how to divide it between the tutorial and Draconian's introduction. Sorry, Drac, your introduction got hijacked in the process.
