LibreOffice is almost identical to OpenOffice and no much different from MS Office so if you know a solution usable for one of them that may work even for libreoffice

The problem is simple ..as now white pages seriously hurt my eyes (for reason too long to be explained here ) so i need to revert lighness...i need to write in withe on black pages but i could not find how to

Well i cannot find how to also because i can't explore much the computer and/or the LibreOffice preferences...because browse them hurts my eyes with too brilliant white pages...so i badly need help to locate the right option

I wonder also if in 7 there is some global setting to be applied to obtain the same, because also use Explorer (search) is a big pain ..i would need Explorer background black or at least very dark ...any suggestion ?

I found that for OpenOffice. If LibreOffice is similar, this might help you find a way to do what you want.

OK, you will have to change a few 'settings' to do it . . . please follow these steps ( Print options, and, Default Writer Page Background colour ):

1. Start OpenOffice . . . open a Writer document
2. From the Menu: Tools -> Options...
3. On the LEFT, click on . . . OpenOffice.org Writer ( to 'expand' it )
4. Click on Print
5. Uncheck Background ( no check mark ) - this is so it will NOT print a black background
6. Check Print Black - this is so it will print all text as black Smile
7. Press OK button
8. Now, change the DEFAULT PAGE STYLE . . . press F11 ( or, from the Menu: Format -> Styles and Formatting )
9. Click on the Pages Styles Icon . . . ( probably the fourth icon from the left )
10. Right click on Default and choose Modify
11. Choose the Background tab, and, select the colour you want . . . probably a black
12. Press OK
13. Test . . . now showing WHITE text, and, black background . . . do a Print Preview . . . and . . . test print one page.
14. With the MODIFIED DEFAULT Page style, you might want to define this as a Default Template . . . so . . . any NEW documents will start this way

LibreOffice basically IS (the old)OpenOffice :
with the last version OpenOffice remain free but become less Open Source,( i don't know the layman's details)
that bring to a fork called LibreOffice based on the previous version of OpenOffice and fully respecting GPL (don't ask me wich version of GPL )

Fork is recent so should be not relevant differences

at 12 the dialog to modify default close at soon i click OK so how i could set that modified default as default template ?

damn...a modified default should be not be automatically used as default? well this is a pedantic question ,but remain the question about how set that as default template.

I mean better if they remain with black test on white but is no much important

I think in the page style window, that's only for the open document, but you should be able to save that as a permanent default, you just have to do it the hard way. I found something else that tells you how to save settings as default. This is answering a question about margins, but I think you can start at step 4.

First, set up your page how you want it to always open, then:

4. Choose File > Templates > Save Under Categories, select My Templates.
5. In the blank space under the words New Template, type a name for your template.
6. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Then, set your new template as the default template:

1. Choose File > Templates > Organize. Double-click My Templates
2. Right-click on the new template name that you selected in step 4.
3. Select Set as Default Template.
4. Click Close to complete. Close your template file.

Hopefully now it will always be black background with white text whenever you open LibreOffice.

And for printing options: If you print it with a black background, that would use a lot of ink! And the paper would be wet and would weigh a lot too. But it's your ink, your choice

Hi PC you can set global parameters in win 7
Control pane/ appearance&personalisation/ personalise/ change the theme to
Black High Contrast #1 . Also you can change colours and headers in window appearance
I installed LibreOffice to see if it also takes the global parms. It does and you can still change the font to white .For Google and searches it will be in black and yellow . Also click in Firefox in tools use my settings rather than letting applications use their own fonts and colours. Tools/ options/ content/ fonts and colours/ advanced.

There are probably more options but this will give you some ideas. Note in the inset that pictures retain their own colours (in the libre office doc )

Hope this helps . Probably you will find other problems with these settings . for instance I can envisage that the yellow font will sometimes be very hard to read against backgrounds that are not black.

@Amanda you are right will be not a bad idea print on black, but as now what i must write is for the web and so the color will depend from CSS, well i don't know nothing about web layout but i am taking a step at the time , first i want the text ready then i will try to take care of HTML/CSS and whatelse .
