You are right i got confused by the other pack (that for the normal version )

But as i got confused maybe other may get confused too...this may be solved as here

yes it was i even tried using the zip file when try to work with the program it crashes

No Partha build works perfectly on my 2.7.4 32 bit copy
(i used the zipped version from Partha side, but the content must be the same only to be installed manually instead then automatically by the installer).

when gimp crashes there is a error message ?

Anyway the safest way to install plugin as gmic is use the zipped version, place them in a dedicated folder and link the folder from gimp preference:
when you look what in gmic , (and several other plugin) you will see that there is not only a gimp_gmic.exe but also several dll, with totally unrelated names

Placing this kind of plugin with the others is a bit risky because other additional plugin downloaded somewhere else may have similar dll that may conflict
...and there is always the risk that other programs including unistalled sw may have installed conflicting dll globally,in Windows /System or System32..is to avoid this risk that when installing new programs i always prefer to install their portable versions if available .

I don't think that use the GMIC version of sourceforge may solve, but maybe switch to Gimp-2.7.4 portable will

I found this PPA:

There, gimp 2.7.4 is listed but when I invoke "sudo apt-get update" or use Synaptic, no new version of GIMP appears. By using a PPA like this, I succesfully upgraded to Partha's 2.7.3 not so long ago. Any news ??

I am a little confused.

I am providing Windows builds and as far as I know, PPA is related to Ubuntu. I can't imagine it is difficult to build on Ubuntu if you installed all the dev tools.

The second message is a harmless warning let say is a message targeted more to developers then to users

So don't worry about:

You may just ignore or if disturb you add to the toolbox or to the dock tabs the error console tab ,so instead then pop out topmost the warning will silently go there without disturb

PC has already responded to this.

I am reluctant to fix the error (it is harmless) till the new API is out in 2.8.

However, I will do what I can do for the next build.

PS: I am assuming that you meant 1.5.0.2 since I have not compiled 1.5.0.3 yet.

A harmless solution for harmeless warning:
add as default the error console tab to the dock (from gimprc )

BTW did you plan to fix the portability of the portable version with next build?

Did you see my reply? The portability would be rendered unportable as soon as you start adding directories with hardcoded paths.

I will look into how the gimprc is created and then we can go from there. I can't think of any other solution.

Partha that may explain why the added paths went broken , but what surprised me more was see also all default couples of paths go broken.

The defaults go missing because the gimprc takes precedence over the system wide file. So, basically all plugins go missing.

I believe i have found out how to modify the system gimprc file to got what i wish...but seems useless if the first change in preferences would break everything

But a portable should not preserve its own system paths ?
added path may even get broken if the sw is moved on another drive but the paths for its own files and folders should be anyway preserved..but how ?

oh well i will see if the other gimportable do the same

The top of the gimprc file in your .gimp-2.7 (portable or otherwise) says this:

I still think the easiest way to do it PC is to just tell folks to edit their edit/pref/folders to reflect their install.
The only other way is to make it an INSTALL setup file that installs into /
Then when the installer starts its setup folks can pick their own default install.Gimp will install the portable there and write the Edit/Pref folders to reflect it.

it is GimPortable, it is still portable even if inside (in App/Share ) i added a "extra" folder, with inside GAP. MathMap and i forgot what else...and it is still fully portable just try on your PC if you still don't believe me !

You may unzip it where you like ,it doesn't matter ...you may add more "hardcoded "paths for the other extra subfolders in "extra"...maybe some plugin will not work for missing dependency or because for 2.7 ,i could not care less care since is a quick proof of concept... the point is that the new paths are preserved and the default path don't get lost

Actually there is a much more clean and easier way:
move everything to GimPortable 2.6 or even 2.7.3 ,they will work and remain portable without require any user fiddling, the disadvantage missed support for Python (and so for gurm, shell out, gimpscripter and openraster and swf export)

But i hope that Partha will solve i like more his builds

The ZIP i uploaded it is a dirty, (GAP and MM works not sure for the rest ) is just to proof that a portable remain portable even if the user changes something in the preferences...

A cleaner hack would not require much longer time, but a inner voice keep telling me about a "xcf template" priority..
