This is a Tutorial and do not require any previous knowledge of gimp

you may wonder why to post a Tutorial in the Art Board
This tutorial doesn't need to be written only performanced, .it is a game about creativity
we may start now, so load gimp and be ready for the fun

MATERIAL

As shameless plug we may use my new semitransparent patterns ....

i have much more here http://www.flickr.com/photos/photocomix_mandala/

THE GAME Phase 1

To play you must open your gimp, open the first pattern as image (Be sure to not loose tranparency .often Windows strip away transparecy when drag and drop,..in case instead then D & D save you should save and open) then open a few others using FIle/Open as layer.

You should immediatly see the magic !

Now find the best combination(s) may be the most intricated , or the most rich of depth or more decorative
Once you get copy the visible/paste as new Image and upload here

The game (and the tutorial because this Game is a Tutorial )will become more and more complex
So PLEASE don't add ANY complication here stick to the few and simple rules

RULES

YOU MAY

Use as many layers you want
toggle layer visibility on/off
add copy of the visible
add a SOLID color BG

YOU MAY NOT

NO merging modes, ONLY accepted mode is the default (Normal at full opacity )
NO Offset...offser will be in Phase 2 or 3 here
NO brushing or erasing, no Filters or similar

Just load the pattern , play with their postion in the stack
raise ,lower (CTRL+ L open layer window) ,toggle on off the eye icon just do NOT offset
[/align]

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2797

And the very first step is find 3 or 4 semitransparent pattern that combine well togheter...then step 2 is to animate each single pattern...

I used only BW as proof of concept, to simplify
but of course the same may be done with semitransparent COLORED patterns

And the wheels are only 1 of possible effects
