It's a pretty simple effect to pull off, though I admit alc59 put some seriously good effort into it.

This is about 15mins of work and I obviously wasn't trying that hard.

EDIT: I need to point out that I am not downplaying the amazing work that alc59 did on that image. That looks great. I was pointing out to others that the initial effect is very easy to pull off with a filter. alc59 will have to go into detail how s/he got it looking that good, though I'm pretty sure I know.

I hope the page comes back, i wrote down parts of the tutorial and some of it's in my head (so much for those parts of it)
i just installed an add-on for firefox (chrome and IE can use it too) that will convert a webpage into pdf. hoping i can use it save some tutorials as .pdf and not rely on the link always being good.
i did a quick test of it on gimpchat and it looks pretty good

@Molly, I did PM's tutorial a long time ago on Gimp Talk...I think I still have the result on the old computer.

I've been doing that, and downloading youtube videos. Nice being able to do this without having to have internet access.
