Playing around with neon again. All I did is make a custom gradient with darker end points for copper, to keep the copper tubing look more realistic. Made a slightly larger neon layer, and just deleted the areas to mimic elbows and connectors.

That is kewl Mahv, it looks like the PVC piping we used in one of the houses we built, we used that for all the water lines and all those elbows cost more than the straight pieces.

I love that effect mahvin! I'm really glad everyone jumped on this thread the way they did. Now I have another new script and lot's of things to experiment with. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Another thing you can do with the Neon script is to use it with B&W gradient... instant bumpmap along the path:

I added shine/slight warp effect a bit by luck. What you see is the result of:

- add layer and fill with plasma
- desaturate, blur 30px,
- set layer in divide mode
- using Curves , drag the point a 0,0 toward the top until it looks fine :)

Did I reinvent a known wheel? Does it look good to you?

I tried to do that tubing and it didn't work. I did some text, went to stroke selection and I went to the line style and selected the rounded cap but it didn't come out with the caps, just the plain stroke. I have never used those caps or join styles before so maybe there is something I am missing. OR is there a script for this effect?

Molly:

I had to modify a gradient to make the tubing work (look) right. So, taking an old PS copper gradient, I made the outside colors dark and middle colors light, using RobA's gradient along a path script.

All you need to do is create 2 neon layers, making the top neon layer slightly larger than the bottom (2 - 3 pixels or so) and just use the Rectangle selection tool to delete the straight pipe areas from the top layer, leaving behind the elbows and angled connectors.

Gradient attached:
