GIMP in Lion

GIMP Version: 2.6.11
Operating System: Mac OS
OS Version: Lion
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

GIMP loads but seems to be frozen. Nothing works. Can't open a file, or paste a photo I have copied. Elsewhere I have read that GIMP either doesn't work at all in Lion, or works with some functions not working. Are there any solutions to this? Such as different versions of Lion, or ???

Actually, it DOES help. The suggestion to install Leopard version is concrete and has worked for others; I'll try it.

Yes - uninstall the other and install this version-

Update: I closed a bunch of stuff on my Mac Mini in preparation to shut down and allow a software update from Apple, and after shutting down almost everything I thought I'd check GIMP again and voila! it works fine except that it's a little slow responding to some things. I can only assume that something else I had loaded was interfering with GIMP, but I have no idea what. Or perhaps I had too much stuff open and overloaded memory. Posting this info in case it is useful to someone else - however, just to be sure I will take Rod's suggestion to uninstall and get the one he suggests. Thanks, Rod.

Actually if it is working after your new update i would leave things the way they are.

It started working before I did the update but after shutting down a bunch of stuff, that's why I thought maybe I had overloaded memory or another program was interfering. But you are recommending the old rule, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? OK, it's a good rule.
