Hi guys I need you to put on your thinking caps on please cos I need a name for my new coming baby boy (nephew). On 18 Feburary I'll be an aunt again yippee. I had spoken to my sister in law and asked her have you named the little boy yet she replied no.

So I want some suggestions in naming him. I don't want common or names that you nick named like shorten the full name also has to be a strong one too.

Mine is Kyle. Silvaine & Paul liked it :D

My oldest nephew's name is Hunter which was popular a few years back. I think Joshua (the name of one of my other nephews) is in vogue now. Still, what's wrong with Lyle? lol

:)

Just some additional trivia, Lyle is derived from the French/Alsace (German) region for Island (lisle or isle). Believe I'm recalling that right. My Grandfather (definitely German) was Lyle H., Dad's Lyle G. and I'm Lyle J. :)

I have always liked the name Blake.I was going to name my first son Blake but my sister inlaw stole it. :P
My middle name is Blake and when i was in grade school (and couldn't spell Blake correctly), i would sign my homework Rodney Black Smith lol (as my name used to be Smith but i was adopted by my wonderful Step Dad James Detmer).
Teacher got a kick out of that and asked my Mom about it one day.My Mom said
"It's his middle name but he spelled it wrong" :)

Sort of funny what memories some of these posts bring back.

I like the name Herbert too (which is my Step dads middle name) :)

Rod I'll give Blake a think and as for David there is already a David in my family I'm married to him poor devil lol. I like the name David but what annoys me with the name is people will insist calling my hubby Dave I hate it. If you are given a name and you can shorten it I believe saying the full name not shorten it.

Akky I do like Seth and Gus.

Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming too :D

There are other things to be taken into consideration than just a first name.

How does the name sound when said with the middle and last names?

What do the initials spell?

Is it a name peers will make fun of? Believe me, they will if it sounds like something else.

A name is something that influences the whole life of the person.

O makes a very good point. In the last decade it has become fashionable to use alternative spellings for commonly accepted names.(at least in Australia) Such as Jayson (Jason), Charron (Sharon) and Shaun (Shawn). Although cute at first , these spellings will be a burden in later life. Wasn't there a boy called Sue :-) (Johnny Cash)

O that's exactly my brother and his wife was concidering. I had spoken of this with my sister in law and she had agreed with me. That's why I had asked for none nicked names. Being bullied at a very young age can damage a childs happy life. And believe me that does :(

Damion, Travis, Caje (pronounced cage) from Louisiana Bayou and Dejohn was a famous boxer. I guess there is a restaurant in NY that sports the name of Dejohn's too.
