Not too long ago I downloaded Adobe air so i could install Icon Maker Pro for Adobe icons.Well not too long after that i ran into another small program named Fractal4D. Download here http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Graphics/Fractal4D.shtml
You need Adobe air installed first http://get.adobe.com/air/ to run this program, but it's really cool.

Here is an image i created with it.
The fractal follows your mouse pointer wherever you drag it.Click at a point and the fractal stops drawing.
Sort of like finger painting with fractals. You can record like a movie and it saves it in your options under recordings.and export your file to Illustrator. You can even create with layers.
However it won't save as a image extension, I can't seem to figure out how anyways, but any screen capture tool will work to make a png, jpeg, or gif file.I use FastStone Capture. It isn't free (about 20.00 usd), but works rather well for every thing i need in a screen capture tool.

You can use any color bg or fg and it's free, as is Adobe air installer.

Pretty cool program. =)

Here are some other freebies.

I take that back it auto saves the image to your desktop, wonder why it doesn't let you choose where you want to save it....strange.

I tried cygwin twice and never got it to work right.

That is running on Windows XP you just have to have Adobe air installed first. You don't need cygwin for Fractal4D, you only need that for the Flames fractal maker, which i tossed aside because it needs a cmd window to run.I hate doing that.

download adobe air, install it
download Fractal4D and adobe air will install it for you. =)

easy as pie.
