Many here know I've been using the Shack for free for more then a few years now and many here do too. When I went to view my v_images site, I noticed a pink box that said soon that all my images other then the latest 500 I uploaded would get hosed unless I get the $2/month premium service. $2/month is trivial even for a broke bloke like me and the Shack's been good to me over the years so I bought into it (mainly since I have over 9000 images uploaded; lol). Just wanted to give you guys who still use the Shack a heads up. More info about this can be read at the FAQ.

thank for the head up...i still prefer use flickr that cost about the same but has more features

well most of my imagines are going to disappear in a couple of days because i didn't pay Flickr for this year but luckily they don't delete nothing they just hide from public view and restore everything at soon they got the money so would be something temporary , for 1 or 2 week
(hopefully the end of the mouth i should be able to pay and restore everything )

I will just use my own server if it comes to that.

I know the free version of Flickr doesnt' support transparent PNGs PC; not sure about the pro. That's been an issue as well as animated gifs. Not sure if the pro supports either.

Not true both are supported at original size.
then flickr does automatically thumbs of various sizes ,not sure if correct call thumb a 1200x800 pic..anyway that is the large thumbnail, and all thumbs are jpg.

But the original size remain and offers exactly what you upload so even with transparency (i have ton of semitransparent pattern and a few gif)

..then free member have limit for quantity (200 pic) and storage space but inside that limits they may well upload png or animated gif

Hmmm .. guess I'll just use the unlimited disk space/bandwith I pay $8.95/mo for! I use to use imageshack just for the convenience.

And to put images on a page for tweeter, g+, facebook and a host of other social media site is an easy thing to accomplish.

Must be their advertisers aren't chipping in as much as they like. How long has the shack been around? Gotta be at least 10 years.

That's the downside of 3rd party image hosts. Here today, gone tomorrow, along with all the images that users have uploaded and embedded in forum posts. I've seen forums decimated because tons of threads no longer had images embedded in them, making the threads pretty much worthless. When a user abandons an account, image hosts frequently replace all of the embedded images with ADs for their site.

That's the beauty of uploading images directly to Gimp Chat.
Your images for tutorials and things of that nature will always be here.

Man; lost a lot of work because of the OX. Again, I don't mind spending $24/year ($2/month) for ImageShack; don't see the idiotic ads anymore too so that's actually a good thing.
