ABR and SCM files?

also:
Gradients go in gradient folder

plugins go in plugins folder

patterns go in patterns folder. and so on. :gimp

Thanks...I understand that but it was the file format i.e. ABR I was unsure of

Ok, ABR are photoshop brushes and gbr are gimp brushes. gih are animated Gimp brushes. I know there is a lot to remember with extensions, lol

ahh...so can Photoshop brushes be used with Gimp?

yes, some of them are very large and some come in groupings with one file. I usually open them with GIMP, look to see what ones I want, then put them in my brush folder and delete the rest.

Just tried to open with Gimp but tells me file unknown so how do you do that? Sorry about all the questions lol

ABR Viewer allows you to open the abr files and view all the brushes in the file at one time and also conert them all or one at a time to a png format for easier viewing or converting to a Gimp .gbr file. I find this tool very useful as I have a lot of PS brushes.

Gimp should load any ABR files that have been ADDED to your .../UserName/gimp-2.6/brushes folder.
They will be in your brushes dialog window.

Just thought i would quickly add that Inkscape and Gimp share the same Palette extension as well.
GPL. So any GPL files in Inkscape can be copied to Gimps palette folder and they will work.
