Well I'm happy about that but I don't think they fixed anything. Search is still broken.

Most of their tutorials are still useless without the missing images.

It looks like all the tutorials are back to normal now.
I can see all the images anyways. =)

Now would be a good time for someone at Gimp Talk to back up the site.
Just in case.

And i think will be needed .... after a few hour seems the side went offline again

I have it downloading to a folder on my desktop. Computer guy said it wouldn't probably take more than a couple gbs.

GT has to be up. Not going to get there yet.

It's not up for me. For me to back it up, it has to be up. Need to wait until it's back before I can back it up.

I'm copying it to my hard drive. So far, it's been running for 1 day, 3.5 hours and I have 9.6gb so far. I have plenty of room on my hard drive for it. My HD is 180gb and so far I still have 94gb. What I'll do with it later I haven't decided. I just wish it would finish.

I tought that your friend prevision of 2gb was very optimistic...good for a normal forum not for a forum dedicated to the graphic
where there is no limit to quantity and size of the images to post

I fear also my old avatar was co-responsable...it was ..cought...over 2MB

Hold on. You can download and back up everything on gimp talk just like that? Does that mean that you are able to read stuff like private messages, or that stuff from the moderator forum can be read by none moderators.

How does that work? If anyone can back up any forum, are private messages and private sections on forums really private or not?

That said, hope it's done soon. Download speed doesn't seem all that fast and even though you are doing other things and let it run in the background, it feels much better when it's done. :)

No worry about PM
You can copy only what is public for sure you will not be able to access to other one PM (i think not even to your own but i am not sure...)

Same for the "reserved" forum, what is not publically accessible remain not accessible.

..not sure here if O could have accessed and copied messages from the mod forum after login, but for sure now she can't because she resigned as mod

Basically is as copy and save with FF but is done automatically for each page, is not a tool to hack forum but just a web tool

A world about Copyright obviously the side, banner and what else are from Ali.

But the material posted may be reused with the permission of the author (as example Saulgood gave explicit permission for its material)..author that may be very happy also because they may have not a back up.

And for personal use should be really any problem, as i may browse a forum online i may well do it offline

In the United States, 17USC107 regards the following as Fair Use of Copyrighted Material:

1. The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes
2. The nature of the copyrighted work
3. The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole
4. The effect of the use upon the potential market for, or value of, the copyrighted work

For all intents and purposes, if the material being reproduced is not for the sole and express purpose of making a profit it is fair use.

Private messages are not actually private, although ethics usually precludes board administrators from reading them unless there is suspicion of illegal or other activity directly harmful to the site.
