Exactly what i was wandering, nobody ask donation in cash but at least a few bottles of champagne !
I could even bring the glasses !!

More seriously , why mess with environmental variable when GS is open source and we can directly slip it in ?
(i suppose..i am not a lawyer , neither a native english and that page about license give me headaches )

I still have to found a Windows user that install GS for something different to try to satisfy the gimp dependency

I am having a problem using .xcfbz2 of .xcfgz with 2.7.6 portable. Is says "unknown file type". I don't have any problems with partha's 2.74 or 2.75. In the past, if one of them didn't work, I simply copied the bz2 or gz files to my bin directory. I even tried older versions and the bz2 .dll, but nothing. Is it just me?

Was this the 32-bit version? I have had reports on that. 64-bit works fine.

Sorry, it is the 32bit version under WinXP. I even tried a clean install to eliminate any of the plugins that I added.

Partha this version of ghostscript works fine with both PDF and EPS,
http://www.box.com/s/60l99m3snktjgizxbl1o

that you included throw error about a missing dll when opening eps

I don't know why it throws errors. The thing is, when I recopy exactly the same version on top of the version I included, it works fine. That is why I was saying gs is finicky. :)

Well, I was hoping that Gswinw would work without a console. However, it still opens a console while converting PS/EPS files. So, I will revert back to just one exe in the future.

I eventually found i had to reset the path variable.I already had GS 9.05 but for some reason no path was created to it on install of Ghost Script. :)
After creating the variable value it works fine now.

Must have been my fault. Mucking around with the GTK build environment some time or other i must have removed it or deleted it.

Working good on all my installed versions now though.

I found that the commands: file-bz2-load and -save, and file-gz-load and-save, are not showing in the Procedure Browser in the 2.7.6 portable version. The bzip.exe in the bin folder are the same in both the .6 and .7 versions. Also, the python files containing "bz2" are the same in both versions. Same with the "gz" files.

Are any other files needed?

No, there should not be any need for additional files. I don't know why it's not working and currently I am not near my Windows computer. It is happening on 32-bit only.

I don't see a console
..oh well maybe a very quickly flashing console at gimp loading time let me try again

No i can't see a console but i see a sort of almost imperceptible flickering not sure if on other computers may be more evident on mine i would not have noticed if was not looking for it

BUT you are right GS is quirky yesterday my 64 bit version was opening perfectly EPS now it refuse to open the very same file and complain about missing ghostscript

I am really puzzled now on 64 bit works with PDF but give only a error message (GS not found)if i try with EPS

That is just crazy, is as like after the first time it is used to open EPS something happens that broke the path for GS

But ,makes not sense, the same path result broken if i try to open EPS and correct with PDF ...
and it got broken in the last hours yesterday was working fine :gaah

Yes, I know. That's the trouble. Exactly as I said. When I packaged it, it was working fine. Then after installation it could not find the right DLL. So, after recopying the same files on top of the installation, it worked fine.

PDF is handled by poppler if it's available (which it is on my builds).

I know what you mean. Ghostscript application is already out of the main Gimp build anyway. The current plugin uses the gs dll directly which has issues in the 64-bit build. In the 32-bit build, you don't need any gs. On my machine this had to do with the latest Tiff 4.0.x which does not work with Gimp in Windows and so I went back to Tiff 3.x.x so that you can open tiff files in Gimp.

i see i will try to remove GS from the 32bit

i am not home now at soon i will be back i will try the first upload to your side
(first i have to solve another apparent case of wizardry, i corrected a path on a script but still the script use the previous path
..yes only rational explication is a sclone of the same script slipped in but till now any kind of search of the clone failed

Hello, i am using the portable version of 2.7.6 from the Partha website.

I really liked it until i ran into a rather important performance and visual problem.
If i load (or create) a 1024*1024 sided texture in 2.7.6 , then to work on it i zoom by example at 150% , i can draw, etc on it.

But now if i decide to move the texture around (holding my middle mouse button), there are awfull image tearing happening , and i continue to move it around, there's not only ugly tearing but a very bad visual "lag".

On my "official" 2.6.10 , i have absolutely no such problem, there's never any image tearing and never any visual "lag" happening in those conditions.

I tried it both in single window mode or in the "floating panels" mode, but the problem occurs in both.
Is there a solution ? are those problem always happening in the RC1 of 2.8 (that i don't try because i don't want to uninstall my 2.6.10) ?
