I haven't a clue what they are - some kind of wild woodland flower I would guess. I'm quite fond of wild places. By the way, I love your Jack-in-the-Pulpit. What kind of flower is it? Is it related to anything I might know?

You can find all kinds of beautiful flowers in the woods, This is Trillium season right now in South Eastern Canada. It is our floral emblem for Ontario.
They grow in the filtered light in the woods so don't do too well in bright sun.

Calla Lily Jack in the Pulpit

I love Callas, but they are for warmer climes...and I don't like to have to dig up bulbs and store them. I like to have a no-care garden with hardy bulbs and perennials that just appear every year. I must admit, though, that I am going to have to take the time to dig up bulbs this year to spread them out so the blooms will be larger.

I agree 2-ton. I used to dig out Calla's by the bushel. By the time fall comes around, I usually loose interest in the garden.
Our planting season will be here soon but not safe to plant until 24th of May. I have lost lots of impatiens and annuals by rushing other years so have learned my lesson.

Here in Northwest Ohio, the general rule of thumb is to plant any time after Mother's Day, second sunday in May in the US.

Looks about right, you are about 100 miles further south west than us.

How to you get the background blurred like that?

Just an entry level DSLR (Canon 450D) and a good macro lens (Canon 100mm, which went quite cheap when it was obsoleted by a new model).

The background blur is inherent to this kind of shot with a "big" sensor (actually it's hard to have all the subject in focus).

Use a DSLR once and you never get back to compact digital cameras, until you get too old to carry them

I used to have a great point and shoot that had a macro setting as well as several depth of field settings, it was an Olympus. It died, an I got a tiny, but large screen, point and shoot Sony because I wanted something easy to stash in a pocket, as I am just a casual photographer these days. It's great for quick pics, but I haven't learned where the different settings are yet.

Beautiful, water drops and all.

Water drops are great. I had a Photoshop Creative magazine once that showed how to create water drops for flowers and it was easily transferable to Gimp.

fortunately, Mother nature provided the water drops. We Finally got some rain. May showers instead of April showers


and while it's not as colorful, here are the beginnings of the green apples (I posted the flowers a few pages ago.)

I love all of nature and Spring is my favourite time of year. Lovely to see new life and a lovely photo Cecilia.
