I've attached a zip of all of the screen captures. There 184 of them, too many to add to one big file and at the moment I don't have a working copy of gimp on this computer.
I do have the following to add that may or may not help:
All the dlls that it insists aren't there are there.
Reinstalling will not solve the problem.
I tried restarting and it didn't change.
I tried registering some of the worst offenders via regsvr, and it still doesn't see them.
I can't help but wonder hat I should have installed but don't.
Sorry I had to send them in a zipped file.

I forgot to add that the same thing happens with 4 of my computers.

Here is what I know so far.
When I open your Gimp, I have to X out 18 times cuz I get that same error that many times, except everyone is from a different plug-in. Here are the names,
wavelet-denoise.exe, twist.exe, saturate.exe, resynth.exe, pspi.exe, Plasma2.exe, mathmap.exe, gmic_gimp.exe, gimp-plugin-toy.exe, depth-merge.exe, p4m.exe, colorize.exe, extention-script-fu.exe.

Under file > logos > metallica, no error but also doesn't work. I think this is Graechans script and it hasn't been compiled for gimp-2.8, not sure.
Under Script-Fu, edges, picture frame and add matt don't work, no error and the dialog comes up but nothing happens.

No GMIC, no MathMap. No Gap

There might be lots more but this is what I have come up with so far.

@ erisian, I emailed the bevel plug-in for you.

Molly,

Those plugins are not provided by me. Would you do me a favor? Please download the "Useful Plugins" from my website, run the installer and tell me if you have the same issues?

Thanks,
Partha

Gms9810,

I hate to say this, but you are mixing and matching. :(

My build will never ask for intl.dll which is pretty much the error I see in the first 100 of the jpgs.

Here is my guess. You installed a Gimp build that was not mine. You didn't uninstall correctly? Now some of the leftover plugins from the old build are asking for DLLs from the old install and looking for DLLs which no longer exit.

Please clean out your previous Gimp install. Download my build and install that. My build does not put any DLL in any place other than its own bin directory.

Hope that helps. If not, just PM me. :)

We can solve this.

Thanks,
Partha

Thank you soooooo much Partha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jorden. :) Praise like this makes it worthwhile.

I left you an response in the other thread about Python.

I am confused Partha. I didn't add all those plug-ins, they were in with your install. Am I supposed to take them out and start over?

Me too. :) since I don't provide PSPI, mathmap etc. They are not in my build. My build is Gimp (and nothing added to it). I have a separate download called "Useful Plugins" which contains the wavelet series, advance tone mapping etc. which are very useful for me for photography.

Sorry Molly. :(

I took the whole thing out again and downloaded it again. I still got the same 18 errors while opening gimp. I also downloaded your useful plugins and ran that. I don't know what is going on. Why would all these things show up in the 2.8 plug in user folder but not run when I try them. It is strange. I don't know what to to next, except maybe take my book and go to bed and try again tomorrow. I installed them in program files(x86) folder. If it doesn't work tomorrow, I will try the 32 bit and see what happens.

Me too...especially if it has G'mic and some nice plug-ins already in it.

Hi Rod,

There is a bug that seems to replicate the bin/lib directory when you use the gimp environment variable. I rely on that to make the system totally portable. You can test it yourself. Just Download my regular build (or any build), install it and use the trick I showed you with the bat file.

2-ton,

Download my regular build and don't install it in Program Files (you can if you want) and then download the Useful Plugins and install it. It will install wherever you installed my build. Then you are good to go. It includes G'MIC 1.5.1.3.

I notice on your website that this is a "unofficial" version. Is there any functional difference I should know about?

Also, will you have an "official" version?

Huge fan of your builds :coolthup :jumpclap :tyspin :gimp

I call it "unofficial" to distinguish it from the one provided by the developers. When I was the "only other person building Window's Gimp", there had to be a way to distinguish it from the one on gimp.org.

There is no functional difference other than, my builds do not mix and match 32-bit and 64-bit DLLS. You cannot use 32-bit plugins with my 64-bit build etc. I won't have an official version in the sense that you won't see it on gimp.org.

Thanks for being a fan of the builds. :)

Got it. I'll keep an eye out for that 64-bit Mathmap PhotoComix is working on.

Partha - thank you very much - it works very well.
I think I know the solution to the problem
http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4254&start=20#p52576
When you first start Gimp (XP 32bit) copied files
- From the catalog:
c: \ Documents and Settings \ ~ ~ \. gimp-2.6 \
- This directory:
c: \ Documents and Settings \ ~ ~ \. gimp-2.8 \
(including the script and plugins).
Prior to installation, to hide ALL of the directories. gimp-2.?

The question of curiosity:
why in the bin directory is gimp.exe and gimp-2.8.exe?
