I believe the 32 folder is created when you install 64-bit GIMP Graechan; I can't remember, but maybe I checked the allow 32-bit compatibility option when I did the custom install for GIMP (just can't remember).

Yeah; out of habit, I never do a default installation; may keep the parameters default, but never do a default installation. :)

Lyle & Graetchen,
I placed all the .dll files and the mathmap.exe file in the plugins folder, and the expressions in a separate mathmap folder located at users\username\.gimp-2.8\mathmap. I get the following error when I try to run Gimp "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." I then deleted the 3 .dll's from the 32/bin folder and placed that folder in the program files\.gimp-2.8 folder to see if that would work. It did not. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it could be.

I get the 0xc000007b bug when I try to run 32-bit G'MIC though most other 32-bit GIMP plugins work. I'm not a coder so I have no idea how to fix this one Charlie. Maybe some of the gurus here can help you with it. :)

Did you try this tute. I know Lyles screens were very good and should have done the trick but I guess there are all kinds of ways to arrive at the same place.

Molly,
Thanks for the input, I tried that as well; downloaded the .exe file and specified that it install Mathmap into my username/.gimp-2.8 directory but it keeps defaulting to the 2.6 directory. So, it didn't work.

I can't remember when I installed mine but I think you paste the whole folder into expressions folder, not whats inside. Did you do that?

Molly,
Are you referring to the Windows .exe installer that is at the link you provided above? I assume you can't be referring to that since putting the installer into the expressions folder won't do anything. So are you talking about Graetchen's files? Sorry, I'm not versed in this sort of thing, which makes me a bit lost.

Sorry, maybe I am mixed up. Isn't there two folders with mathmap, one goes in expressions folder and the other in plug-ins. I must go look now, I forget, it has been so long.

You are right Molly; see my earlier post with screenshots. One's located in the user's .gimp root directory and holds the expressions. The other is located in user's plugins directory (at least in my install). :)

I thought so, I thought I was going bonkers. I have been looking all this time here in Fedora and I cannot find where math map is in my files. I looked in plug-ins I looked everywhere and can't find them. I do have them cuz I use math map all the time, why I can't find them in my files someone that has Fedora may be able to help me locate them.

Can I re install 2.6 along with 2.8? I still can't get mathmap to work.

I don't know Gms. If you install the regular version of Gimp-2.8, It un-installs Gimp-2.6. At least, that is what mine did. It does leave behind the User folder for 2.6 though.

I answered my own question, yes, I have 2.6.12 and 2.8 working. Sorry, I should have checked that before I posted it.

Prior to your 2.8 installation did you have anything Gimp in your program files or a users " " .gimp 2.8 folder and where did you have your 2.6 installed, and did you have a users " " .gimp2.6 folder.

I had Gimp-2.6.12 installed in Program files(x86) I also had a user " " .gimp 2.6 folder.

When I installed Gimp 2.8, it un-installed Gimp 2.6.12 but left behind the user " " .gimp 2.6 folder and also added a Gimp 2.8 user folder.

This is in Windows. on my other hard drive.
