When I used the clone layer tool to create rotated layers for a animation and tried to playback te layers the playbach screen showed me as having only 2 layers, the original and the layer group but did not plyback the layers inside the layer group, even though i could see them.

I think it's a plugin issue. It seems that most plugins that haven't been updated for 2.8 basically see layer groups as regular layers...

However, I think this behaviour could be advantageous for animations, if you think about it... when you have complex animations, you no longer have to merge each frame into one layer, and keep separate layered files of each frame in case they need editing... you can just use layer groups, creating a group for each frame... I think this is actually a good thing.
