Viewing a reference image for painting

Operating System: Windows
OS Version: vista
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Hi,

Is there a way to display a reference image for painting in Gimp 2.8 single window mode?

You would probably have to use Windows picture viewer together with Deskpins to pin the window on top.

Perhaps the Navigation dock? (I haven't installed 2.8, but the Navigation dock is sometimes handy for this in 2.6)

I find the navigation dock too small and surely it displays the image you're working on, not the reference image. I usually open a new image and pin it but in 2.8 single window mode I believe this can't be done.

The intermediate solution - plugins Blot
Created by Kyoichiro Suda for other purposes - may be helpful to preview in Gimp 2.8

May I know where i should paste the blot file in Gimp?
