filter to make this circle of ring

Hello, is there any filter to make this circle of ring

but with customizable "beads", for example triangle, or hexagon. also, to specify how many beads, the distance between beads, and so on. The picture is from the first step of making "fake doyle spiral" by Lyle.

One way is to make your ring, save to path and stroke the path with a paintbrush spaced the way you want it to look. Any paintbrush will work whether it is a circle or an object.

hello, thanx for your answer molly. but how to make a path which is perfectly circle in GIMP?

You use your Ellipse tool tool, to make the circle then go to Select > To Path. Open your path dialog :pathtab

and right click on the path then look for where it says stroke path and choose your brush and spacing before you do that, go back to layers :layertab

and you will see your stroked circle. If you don't understand this, post back and I will try and write up a small tute for you to follow.

Just to clarify a bit, in order to make a "perfect circle" with the ellipse tool as Molly suggested you first have to click on the two little boxes in the tool dialog that say "Expand from center" and "Fixed".

Molly you can adjust your brush spacing slightly so the bead at 12 o'clock doen't overlap
