BTW, last time, I did apng, it was more pain than worth. :(

Was it because of apng patch?

It interfered with regular png and ultimately having 2 dlls started to affect my overall builds and so I dropped it.

BoOllXoX,

No I need to know what Mac version you are using and all those details.

Mac OS X Lion Version 10.7.4.. I'm sorry all those details as in? lol
I downloaded Gimp 2.8 from the Gimp site itself.
I of course can't find all of the different plug ins I tried lol but they were all the same as this one
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-apng/
and then of course the one Rod had sent me here.

I still haven't been able to find any plugin whatsoever that will work. Scripts are fine. Could there possibly be something in the way my mac is handling it? I read something somewhere about someone having a similar problem and they had to "unhide" some folders on their mac... the thread of course is years old now and inactive. Someone else on the same thread had mentioned having to use Terminal to change the .exe file to an executable file. Again sorry for my lack of knowledge in all this lol. Anyway thanks so much for checking back and trying to help!

Lion is good so no problems there. You are not seeing any plugins probably because no one has compiled them for you?

Anyway, may I suggest that you take a look at the McGimp thread and try my Mac version? It comes prebundled with a whole bunch of plugins (except of course apng).

I won't promise that yet since my trouble with it in the Windows world. :)

Have you considered mng (http://www.libpng.org/pub/mng/)? I will add mng to Gimp after this testing is over and I release another version. Note that mng is officially supported.

I am downloading McGimp as we speak.. and yeah my whole issue is the RPG site I mainly use Gimp for only allows PNG and GIF uploads. Hence my determination to get the apng plugin working somehow lol

Should I normally have to load all my brushes and fonts and scripts back into your version or did I do something wrong? I moved the original Gimp 2.8 to my desktop just in case and then put yours into my applications. Opened fine and everything just none of my brushes fonts or scripts (which was mainly FX Foundry). I can transfer them all over it's really not a big deal I just wanna make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

Sorry I couldn't help either. I have apng and have no problem with it but I am not familiar with the MAC setup so I thought there was enough MAC users here to come to your rescue.
Hope you get it sorted.

Please no sorries! I'm quite determined and will get it figured out. When I do I will post my solution so anyone else who might have the same issue can stumble upon the thread and be spared the headache and frustration I am currently experiencing.. :lol :gaah

We will get it figured out. :)
I thought Acky would have said something by now.I haven't seen her around much lately, and she is the Mac person here at Gimp Chat. :)

Sorry about that but I have been so busy that not much time for fun and games

Partha, I put all of my previous plug ins where I have done in the past and as far as I can see they are all working fine...the only one I left out is the gmic one... I'll test further today and let you know....but to my knowledge apng is not going to work on 10.7.4 at this moment in time. :)

There are tutorials on this site for installation of plugins on a mac and it works just the same for 10.7.4 as it did when I wrote them about a year ago.

Check in Finder to see what you have in ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp-2.8/brushes. If the brushes are there, they will automatically show up when you start Gimp. If not, simply dump all your brushes in that folder and similarly, dump all your fonts in the font directory.

BTW, unless you actually do something within the Gimp app (like change its libraries etc.), you really won't be able to mess it up. :)

I understood you Akky, that is why I said IF we could figure it out I'd be perfect. Meaning that there might be a SLIGHT chance that somebody somewhere will come up with a solution to this problem in the future, if not already, don't you think? I mean you said it yourself, "as far as you're aware". Obviously I'm not expecting some magical solution that is going to give it to me when it hasn't been able to work for you or other mac users here but you never know what will come to us in the future or who may stumble upon this thread and have the solution we are looking for.

And thank you again for directing me to your thread on installing plugins. :) :) :)

I was checking out wxWidgets which seems to compile for all systems at one time?

Download-
http://www.wxwidgets.org/downloads/

Documentation-
http://docs.wxwidgets.org/stable/

NOTE: The windows exe installer installs the src you still have to build the library.

Thanks for testing! :)

Apng is working again and on a Mac I can control it so that it does not mess up my png support. :)

So, after testing, if anyone wants to play with apng, I will be happy to provide it. I will also provide it with the next build.
