So everyone should be excited to know that with help from Partha, I was able to get my apng plug-in working for Gimp on mac!! Yay!! He compiled some files for me and had me install them and it's up and running! We have said that I'm going to do some testing with it tonight and make sure it is working as it should and then we can get the files and instructions posted for our mac users! Thanks a million Partha you're the best!!
Thanks to BoOllXox for testing the code and it seems to be working fine for her. So, if anyone is interested, here is how you get apng working for you.
Download the following zip file to your download directory:
http://www.partha.com/temp/apng-distr.zipNow locate it in Finder. If you double click on it, it will create a folder called apng-distr. Inside this folder are 3 additional folders:
1. apng
2. plug-ins (This contains the actual plug-in called file-apng)
3. share
Now, this is very important:
Locate Gimp.app in Finder. If you right-click on it, The second menu item will be "Show Package Content". Click on this. This will open another Finder Window showing the package Content.
Drag the apng folder from 1) above and drop it inside the folder called tmp.
Next click on Contents -> Resources -> share -> gimp -> 2.0
(In the above -> means click on ).
Drag the folder called share from 3) above and drop it inside the folder called 2.0 (Yes, this the name of the folder inside Gimp).
Finally, drag the
contents of plug-ins from 2) above to your Library/Application Support/Gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder. You can locate your Library under your username in Finder.
Note that you need to drag file-apng into this plug-ins folder, not the whole folder.
You have to follow these steps exactly. If you don't, it will not work.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Partha
