I happen to know that photo used to represent Slackware. It's from a 1960 Swedish TV program where they were trying to predict how the world would look in the year 2000. It was reprised in the year 2000 to compare what actually came to be. That image is of the projected year 2000 "home computer". It's just a mock-up since nothing like it was available at the time. The amazing prospect was that "every home could fit a small computer room like this". The thing in the middle is a printer and keyboard combined.

Overall, computers and communication was under-estimated, infrastructure was over-estimated. No rolling streets or enclosed cities as far as the eye could see. Or helicopters moving your home to wherever you wanted to live for the moment. They also had no sense of environment, suggesting everyone would be eating by disposable plastic plates and cutlery by the year 2000.

Swedish TV didn't make a new show guessing about the world of 2040. I guess they learned their lesson, but it would have been hilarious!

I do find humor is the list and it is true that certain personality types are attracted to various Linux favors but I'll have to say that CentOS and Fedora are targeted toward two totally different kinds of users. CentOS is targeted to reside on servers, while Fedora lives on the desktop.

One thing all the users seem to have in common is a high :geek rating. :lol
