The the text on the hair portion looks kinda messed up but I'm still intrigued as far as the settings on the displace that you used and other techniques. I think this would be of considerable interest to a lot of folks whether they ever post anything or not. Great manipulation.

Thank you very much Drac. The text will mess up a bit where texture is strong. A bald person would make the best subject for this really. As for others posting, there will always be newbies who dig out old posts and try stuff out so nothing will stop me posting tutorials if I think they'll be useful to somebody. Bullies are welcome as long as they do it nicely.

That's an interesting point but with long hair, I would want it to look like hair. I did dodge the girl's hair quite a bit so that the print would show on it but maybe some smoothing would have been helpful.

Here's an idea, if you don't mind. Make a selection of the hair area and copy, paste as new layer then duplicate. Use one layer as an overlay at 25% to 50%, another layer to use with Curves to lighten it up, and whatever else you do. You could use the Curves part make her "bald" for the effect thereby reducing the distortion, then the overlay layer to make it retain the hairlike look. Was that clear as mud?

would it work to make her hair very plain, cartoonish even...so you get the shape of the head with the hair for the rounded look, but the text would not be so distorted. The hair isn't really going to show up anyway, it's going to be looking like the paper that is molded to the general shape?
