Looks like the Hurricane's heading straight towards the center of my state. Haven't powered the generator since we purchased it because of a tornado that hit us in 2008 (over 4 years now; half a tank's been in there since). Powered up like it was just done so yesterday (amazing this old gas still works). Fortunately, Entec still sells real gasoline which I will buy later on today. The boyscout in me says I better be prepared; hopefully it won't be as ugly as it looks on the predictions from the weather map.

Won't the gasohol curdle after 4 years.
Better check for moisture,alcohol is hygroscopic.

Don't have to Ray; used real gas and am glad I did. May have a gumming issue, but since I only used the generator once (and 4 years ago) is probably why it ran (ran it for 5 minutes) so well and started up so easy. Lucky for me. Going to buy some more real gas (only gas I use for the mowers; costs over 20¢/gallon more for the priviledge and you and me both know that's a gas company ripoff especially since the government no longer subsidized gasohol as well as the cost of corn going up).

Reducing CO2 emissions I'm all for it,but using food for that I consider bad.

I am hoping that the storm goes over the south very fast and saves some of the rain for us up north. We need the rain badly!

Me 2 2-ton; looks like it's going to be a fast mover so hopefully there will be some left for the rain I know you guys really need right now. Won't do a thing about the corn prices unfortunately.

no but it a few heavy rains will greatly benefit our 1/3 acre pond, which is our household water supply. It is nearly down to the bottom of the rock border, and if it goes below the rocks, it will undercut the bank and we will have to have the pond builders come and redo the edges..at great expense, of course.

some extreme weather you guys over the pond have had this summer - and here's us swedes complaining because we didn't get enough tan-friendly days, we need to get a perspective, i think. hope you get a little less hurricanes and a little more rain!

You do realize that the corn they more often than not use is the corn that is not safe for human consumption, or is just suitable to sell. My uncle sells his "crap" corn for this specific use.

Maybe not for human consumption but maybe not so bad for cattle.
