I understand with the Gimp Chat Tutorial section there was a consensus to add the feature "Essential GIMP Tutorials". Just a though, there are a few prolific authors (Draconian for sure) who have excellent tutorial series. Wouldn't it be helpful to have a sub-list containing all links to a tutorial series in one place? I would think any series with maybe 5+ tutorials would be a worthy candidate. Just curious!

Good idea. I'm finding it difficult finding all of Dracs.

Actually I was looking for something we did a while back..I wanted to do it again but cant remember what it was called...it used the patterns in our pattern folders to make a kind of stitched patchwork quilt affect....can anyone tell me what that was please??? I've tried to go back on my own posts several times but I keep being told I cant access search feature right now..

I went back and recorded the links to every tut I ever did and put it on Notepad and attached it below for those who are interested. I wish I had a list like this for others as well. Rod for one. I think there is a link on DA for Fenceposts' and there are other sites with scripts and tuts from Mahvin and Rob A I believe. It would definitely be nice to have an option like that. Can't you just do a search "by Author" in the Text Tutorials section and do the same thing?

it would be cool if the tutorials had tags or keywords that we could use for searching.

The attachment I posted before with the links to my tuts was just a text list, this one has the html links embedded so you just have to extract it from the zip, open the file and click on the link instead of the copy/paste exercise.

Thanks to Odin for doing this for me since I was having a senior moment when I posted the first one. :hehe

You will notice some changes reflecting the tutorials that are not completed yet as "coming soon". (that's why there was no link in case you were wondering)

One way to find all of the tutorials by a given member is to search by author, select to search only in the tutorial section and click display results as topics.

Image

Using that search only produces a few pages so it's pretty easy to find all of Drac's tutorials.

Keywords could be placed in the title of each tutorial to make them easy to find, not only using GC's search features, but when using search engines as well. It is especially important to include descriptive titles for all threads, due to the fact that the thread title is what gets indexed and is given priority by search engines, like Google.

Willie was maintaining a tutorial index but he returned to school and no longer had time to keep it updated. If anyone would like to pick up where he left off, and organize the index by member, please feel free to do so.

Which format(s) would work for you?

Odinbc, it would be great to have you take on this project. You can just create a new thread in the tutorial section and post the updated index there, using standard BBcode. The thread can be made a sticky so that it shows up at the top of the forums. After that, we can edit it occasionally to add the new tutorials that have been posted.

Thanks!! :bigthup

Ok. that is good to know, Odinbc. For now, I don't think we would need anything more than a post with links to all of the tutorials, grouped by author. I'm certainly open to any other ideas you might have, though.

Yes. I envision it to be similar to the list Willy created.

It would be links to all the tutorials on Gimp Chat, grouped by author.

Awesome...and great idea to have it started now, since so many members are so prolific in sharing their methods!
