Is there a way to have gradients work with pen tool??

GIMP Version: 2.8
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Hello!

I'm normally a GIMP 2.6.10 (I think .10 not sure lol) user and I use gradients with the pen tool for a lot of things, including texturing, making hair, and that....2.8 from what I see doesn't have that and I'm going crazy without it, is there a way to install a script or something that allows me to do that??

In 2.8 you have to create a new dynamic to use the gradients this way.

I am wondering if a script could be made for that. I miss the paint by gradient too. I used it a lot.

Brush dynamics. I wish I still had 2.8 then I could go through it for you but I can't remember how to do it now.

You can also find dynamic presets, such as GPS brings.

Click the dynamics arrow and choose Random Color.

Choose the gradient you want to use. Then you can paint with the paintbrush using gradient colors.

sorry to seem like a complete nincompoop but do you think I an find Random Colors...sure I have seen it somewhere but I must be drunk or something bc I cant find it now

Akky, under dynamics, random colors is in the drop down menu, just click the button hi-lited in red
