That is very outdated , if you see the release date is from 5 years ago and is for 2.6 not 2.8

the only (good)help updated for gimp 2.8 usable on Windows i found is here
http://samjcreations.blogspot.it/search ... sur%20Gimp

It is for Windows ...neverthless you should read well how to install because the procedure is not too complex but very different
(in 2 words : you must read how to install , try to guess would be hopeless)

As shameless self-promotion is the same help pre-installed in GIMP-PC_Lab-2.8.2 in both 32 and 64bit version

thanks PhotoComix, that was actually the first time i ever used google translate

here is what i got:

1. Download the latest version gimp_2_8_en.chm help from the link.
Install this help [Gimp installation directory] \ bin (where gimp-2.8.exe).

2. Download the ZIP archive (volume: 372 634 bytes) help_en_pour_gimp_2_8_en.chm_20120603.zip
Unzip this archive in [Gimp installation directory] \ share \ gimp \ 2.0 \ help
Files. Beats and gimp-help.xml be installed in [Gimp installation directory] \ share \ gimp \ 2.0 \ help \ en

3. The phase 3 is not necessary for those using our archives.
Download the utility from this keyHH.EXE old archive http://www.aljacom.com/ ~ gimp / KeyWorks.zip and install it.
This utility allows you to open a single session gimp_2_8_en.chm.
The installation is complete.

Usage

Open via Gimp english Gimp.
Set preferences as shown in the image archive help_en_pour_gimp_2_8_en.chm_20120603.zip
In Gimp, use the F1 key, the Shift + F1 context help, the help buttons.
Directly using open by double click [Gimp installation directory] \ bin \ gimp_2_6_en.chm

you didn't leave me sufficient time to reply !

Everything correct but you missed a step

1 ) at the end load gimp
2 ) enter in Edit/preferences/help
3 ) there change the option for "Browser to use " from "Gimp browser" to "Web Browser"
click Ok to confirm and quit

Web browser option would not do what you may expect it will not open the help in a tab of IE or Firefox or Crome...instead will display the CHM help in its own windows

On the other hand, the other option "Gimp browser" would never work ,not with this not with other help, because the gimp browser was removed long ago from the Windows builds

IF still you can't see the help...or just to be on a safe site RIGHT click on that file" gimp_2_6_en.chm"
enter "proprieties " and there click "unblock"
(win 7 may automatically lock that type of files when are coming from a different computer...it does a bit randomly but sometimes it does..for sure i had to unblock that file)

thanks PhotoComix, i did change the preferences bit before

you were right about the unblock properties - both files were blocked by my Win7

but the real mistake was on my side, i put the wrong files in the wrong directory :(

it all works now

THANK YOU !!!!
