Tried a similar tutorial, but not this one, shall have to have a go.

The tute went well until I got to this #12 step and the background of the globe keeps going to black.



Also when I resize the moon to 301x301 it turns into an oval and Yes I did break the link and tried it several times. other than that, great tute

I got to stage 6 and my frame went completely blue and colouring black to alpha and adding a black background didn't change anything.

i tried the tutorial twice and second time the same thing occurred to me

thats when i went freestyle

basically this is a grid mapped to a sphere, so there are several ways to get the coloring

EDIT: just realized, your globe is missing one of the meridians on the left, too, i thought that was because of my processor, but it seems its because of the script

Had a go, some interesting techniques, but like alot of people had trouble with certain steps.

In step 6 I had to change the colourise value of 20 to -20
In step 12 I had to cut out the earth before scaling.

Molly, My Earth went black too. I also altered the opacity somewhat on the front and back layers to get the desired effect but otherwise pretty straightforward.

nice job wooble but my earth came out oval, no matter how many times I did the resize.
