I've been playing round with fonts a lot lately and enjoy finding different ways to present various fonts...so someone in one of my groups which is a graphics group inhabited mainly by psp folk with a sprinkling of those daring to mess with PS and PSE, and myself, the lowly GIMP user..I think I am alone with this and at times have them fascinated with what GIMP can do...one of the men there is using PS and showed how clever he was at producing a burned in wood text....so I had to have a go at it..I used a tutorial I found here.... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2046 I think mine is heaps nicer.....LOL no bias intended... I'll also add a stained glass effect I found on GIMP Tricks (Thanks Jolie if you see this...we miss you). I'm open to suggestions on how to improve this wood burning if there are any please.
Thanks for looking folks!!

You've done a lovely job there. I haven't worked much with text in the past but seeing this kind of thing makes me want to experiment more with it.

Very nice job on your text Pauline, I also like playing with text. I think with your burn't wood that the text needs a bevel and emboss to make it looked etched in the wood. I know there are a few tute in our arsonal about that. I will also look to see if I can find them.

Here are some, I noticed the one RobA did by changing the layer mode and I thought it was very real looking.
