i have a bunch of these nice DA tutorial pictures on my harddisk

they are art and tutorial at the same time

example:
http://lightningismyname.deviantart.com ... P-69369573
another one:
http://frostbo.deviantart.com/art/Under ... -251212603

i was wondering whats everybody's opinion on these tutorials
my contours-chat was inspired by this style and i think it turned out nicely

maybe we could do a little challenge or something

If your asking about opinions on the style rather than content, then this just happens to be the easiest way to create tutorials for DA, they do have the bonus of being quite visual as well, though it can be hard trying to fit screen shots and text all in and still keep the size managable.

Nice to be seen. But being an image the text is not indexed by search engines. You should be able to find any part of text when you perform a search on Google or in the site.
I think it is not the best way to make your tutorials available to many people.

Although Da does have tagging system, so if you tag the image correctly then they do come up in searches.

@YAFU, you are who ?
frostbo or lightning ?

i understand your argument about googling, but i think people are just lazy
finding resources was always an art
and if they want to learn, they just have to join this forum

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean (you know, my bad English) :)

Maybe, I do not know. I usually use google when I need to learn something or solve a problem with GIMP.
But it's true, DeviantArt tutorials are beautifully presented. Here "meowhetfield" has shown us some of them.

yes he4rty, im asking about the style
i would like to make a tutorial in this style
dont know about what, but i think it looks so nice: you can download it and have it on your harddisk

i think this place needs more artwork and maybe something that has a bit more purpose than getting nice compliments

They are easy enough to make, the ones I've made, I have initially used a word program to enter the text of the tutorial, Then I just copy and paste into gimp.

There was a tutorial on Da about how to make the tutorials like that, showing different styles and layouts but can't find it at the moment.

Posted some on here,

Tileable Abstract Patterns
Glitter Ball
Glossy Ball

I don't tend to go in for coloured backgrounds as I find it makes the text hard to read, also if you do create any you are best to save them as a png format as jpg can make the text unreadable.
