So been having a play at creating a wood texture, so what do you think to the results so far.

Those colors and the pattern make me think about the cherry wood or something similar.
What technique/method did you use for obtaining it?

I could see myself using a texture like that. Three thumbs up.

For wood textures I've used Wood Workshop, it's very versatile and free.

Thanks for the comments and for the Link Gms9810, unfortunately I'm using Ubuntu so unable to download it, But also If I have know idea about an image to create then I like having a go at textures as they can be a challenge and push you're understanding of gimp and its possiblities.

So, with that in mind and the above comments, thought of a way to reduce the knottiness of the wood.

he4rty, I downloaded your texture image a couple days ago and in my editor it seemed kind of dim and a bit blurry, so i applied Unsharp mask in Filters>Enchance. Try this and tell me if you liked it.
What's the technique for creating this pattern?
