does anyone know how to resynth a 1024x texture from a selection ?

i'm on win with gimp2.8.

Thanks!

A bit more info would be helpful. Which plugins are crashing, any error messages, what steps are you taking?

What filter are you using exactly? Have you tried Fill with resynthesized pattern?
Images need to meet certain criteria in order for the plugin to work.
Resynthesize plugin usually comes as a bundle with some Python scripts. If you have this set, all plugins there are functional.

Other possible reason for the plugin crashing or not executing could be that your system is not powerful enough.
Try to assign more PC resources to GIMP in Preferences. Increase Tile cache size.
Resynthesizing process is slow and very resource consuming.

Thanks!

Especially for resynth fill pattern! i hadent found it!

it turns out that i crashed the EXE's by having an alpha channel, so they didnt work all day on many retries, and then i found a tip to flatten the image and texturize works, untill i forget and leave the alpha channels and it crashes again.

Thanks! the resynth is quite difficult i didnt manage to make a texture for the moment!

Sorry i am having trouble installing the resynth fill pattern... i think it's installed ok in both the directories where .py plugins can be installed but i cant see it in any of the "render" submenu's. i installed .py properly.

EDIT- ok i think i found it in Edit - fill with seamless pattern... hm. abit tricky having to save the patterns to file first. and it doesnt work well for large textures.

also found this tutorial on how to fill with resynthsize standard one.

hi thanks i found it! fill with resynth has abrupt fading alpha channels between the pattern parts so it's best for non organic things. in the end texturize takes 10 20 mins on a quad core machine for a 1024 texture so i am using just -tileable, -make seamless etc. I figures the best way is to copy squares of the texture and paste them to different places with a kind of soft fading alhpa channel paste brush, akin to a clone brush. I'll should make a post about it. TY
