I have a UC Logic wp8060 tablet that works fine (apparently) with my new Windows 8 laptop. I've installed the manufacturer's drivers, Windows' drivers, and the latest Gimp. I've set it to "screen", and I've tried it on "window" too, and I've enabled DirectX DirectInput, and I've made a new Dynamic with pressure increasing opacity and velocity increasing size. Nothing seems to work. I've restarted my computer three times and now it won't even draw, it flickers between move and brush, but doesn't draw. Here are some screenshots:



I am so close to throwing my tablet at the wall, I've been trying this for hours. Any help would be appreciated.

You should try using a newer gimp version.

I use 2.9 (it's beta, but it has very few bugs).

The latest official windows build today is 2.8.4

2.6 is relatively old!

last thing about windows 8:
from a personal point of view, each windows version that is under 1 year of age, is considered ALPHA quality.
between 1-3 years old i consider it BETA.
4+ (plus service packs) i consider it ready for production use.

when i bought a laptop with windows 7 few years ago, i immediately downgraded it to XP, and it was very wise back then.

apart from that, i don't know what to say.
(I had a bug with gimp 2.9 though, where i copy/pasted an image from another program, the pasted image in gimp was badly distorted!).

Sorry, I am using 2.8.4, I just forgot to change it. Also, I am unable to downgrade from Win8 (because I quite like living and I'm not ready to have my mother end it for me). Besides, the tablet worked on 2.6 on XP, and works with pressure in the driver settings control panel on my Win8. It's not the OS. Thanks for the help though!

I don't know if you've found this FAQ yet but this guy, Monoprice Tablet FAQ seems to know his stuff.

Thanks, but the advice in the FAQ is for XP, and the equivalent doesn't seem to exist on my computer. I've done all the stuff in the gimp control panel, too. I guess I'll just consider the tablet useless until the drivers and/or gimp are updated. Thanks!

They're both Windows OS there is a slim chance of no equivalent. The XP function is most likely there the Win 8 method is just different. Check out Classic Shell, it might help ease your transition to Windows 8.

Also, try your question at the Monoprice FAQ at deviantART and read comments from, ~JeremyB796, he knows Windows 8 and your tablet.
