I originally posted it at DPR (as a response to a post there), but thought I would share it here as well.

Forgot to mention that didn't you know Global Warming causes Global Cooling Ray (at least that's what the enviro-nuts here are now telling us). lol

Now I have to add that I'm against the overt pollution of the planet and we do need to make alternative energy cheap (not fossil fuels expensive) so that it makes economic sense to go to (and I don't consider the Chevy Volt's a solution). I do, however, don't believe that Global Warming is caused by man. It's definitely caused by the influence of our Sun; all episodic cycles have (otherwise we wouldn't have had the myriad of warm climates/Ice ages over the many millenia). Now if you want to know what I believe is the better alternative to electric vehicles (I believe they have a working hybrid (which also has gas backup) that can go 1200 miles before recharge) is the air car. The tank that holds the air weighs no where near as heavy as the battery train that's needed to power electric vehicles, and, much cheaper to replace if needed. Of course the nuts here want to go electric. Just as a side note, it takes around $2.00 of electric power to fill one of these air tanks that can get your around 60 to 80 miles (a good vehicle can get around 35mpg and a gallon of gass is around $2.65/ga so you can see that this solution is only a third (or better) the cost of gas); include the hybrid option (yes, a little gas is needed) and all bets are off). I believe I read that it takes the power of 4 house hold charges to charge up an electric car (how stupid is that). I'm not an environmentalist by any stretch of the imagination; I'm an efficiency freak. Think smart not stupid. Go air. Do a search on Tata motors. I know they had some issues with their hybrid (has a tendency to catch on fire; not good), but that can hopefully be figured out. If you are concerned with lithium batteries blowing up in laptops, I would caution folks about going that route then.

Apologize for my tirade, but I just can't stand idiotic solutions when better ones exists and just need a tweak or two to make it viable; won't take down the power grid either.

I agree about global warming; it's a natural phenomenon. However some political folks want to start committees and funding etc, etc, to halt global warming. It's not possible but they get $$$$ to line their pockets.

I agree about taking care of our environment but that's a totally different subject than global warming.

before the 60 men can change the climate but only in a limited way at most they could influence the micro climate around them, but was plenty of natural compensation (big forest, oceans,sea)

Now all big forest are gone,(if survived survived as a fraction of what before ) cities are getting more and more and bigger and bigger
(if a city is big is big and not surrounded by nature it create its own micro-climate , ...not a problem in a single case big problem if multiplied for all big city in the Word )

And all changes go in the same direction because globalization, that the bigger problem:
before changes may neutralize each others(a new impere grow with its city street and coltivation, but simultaneusly some other decline with new forest start covering abandoned ciities ) now not because all changes go in the same direction

Good bridges may resist for centuries to daily passage of thousends , some walking, some running,some on a horse or a chairot, some even jumping up and down ...no problems

But if you "globalize" to impose Order and precision, as example forcing to march at exactly same speed in the same direction
then no thosands , but just a dozens of idiots marching in perfect order will suffice to break down the bridge

we are on a bridge leaded by bloody idiots that want mantain order making everything march at same speed in the same direction
That is the best way to make the bridge fall, and drown everybody

Back in the 70's (high school) they were pushing the whole global cooling thing. Deforestation and cleaning up the environment are two extremely important issues, neither is responsible for global temperature changes. Rather than tout my beliefs, I recommend that anyone wanting to know the answers should watch the Nova TV series "Magnetic Storm". It explains everything and shows the scientific evidence to back up their findings.

We have global cooling in NJ

It just managed to hit 60 today; trust me, for us, that's cold. We are usually in the upper 60s/lower 70s this time a year, with lows in the upper 40s/lower 50s. We are running around 10 degrees cooler then normal. Suppose to warm up a little higher tomorrow and into the weekend, but the temperatures suppose to drop again Sunday. Might be lucky and get some rare Christmas snow (but won't even cross my fingers on that one). The other day, we did have an unusual front that started off with quite warm temperatures before the front went through and a few twisters again hit our area, but we went unscathed (well, a few house did get some damage) this time. Buford, GA, unfortunately got more of the damage.

before to remember that you use another scale i got really worried because humans tend to die for overheating with more then 50 (centigrad not fareneith )

lol; forgot that you use Centigrade over in the EU PC. I like Fahrenheit better (but that's because we were raised with that system; I know metric too; ex-Engineer; lol). Will for now on put °F on my temperatures.
