I just installed the Windows 7 - 64 bit.
In Windows XP, I right clicked on start - explore then clicked Gimp 2.6 then gimp brushes to add brushes, etc.
On Windows 7, I can't find how to do that. I want to put all my scripts, plug-ins, gradients etc back in.....
HELP!

Right-click the Start button and select Open Windows Explorer.

On the left click Local Disk (C). In the right pane double-click Users > Your Name > .gimp-2.6 and all of the folders for gimp will be there.

I really hate the setup in Win 7. There's no menu across the top with File, Edit, View, etc.

Isn't there a way to access your program folder for Gimp in Windows 7?

Program files are also available the same way. I hate putting stuff in gimp 2.0 folders because my stuff and the stuff that comes with gimp get all mixed together.

If I want to back any of the gimp 2.6 folders, all of the stuff I put in is there and I won't be messing around in the Program Files / gimp 2.0 folders trying to figure out what I put in along with what came with gimp.

I just found this in a search. Haven't tried it yet but am going to.

EDIT: It works. Thank goodness! I think it rather awful that's not the default setting.

Mine was there O; guess I must have fixed it way back when I first installed Win7 a year ago and forgot that I did this. lol

Yeah; Win7 (Vista for that matter) needs to get use to. Have no idea why the madmen at Microsoft decided to replace the old and dependable Documents and Settings with the User interface. When I first saw this (with Vista) a few years back when I was repairing a customers PC, it led to a lot of fustration as I recall. lol

Glad you figured it out Molly. Good link and info to know too O (though I apparently forgot about it since then). :)

I haven't been in Win 7 very much. It's on my laptop along with Fedora 13. I need to get in there and really explore it more. So far, now that I've got some of the stuff I want fixed in it, I like it.

I would really like a tree view but the way it's set up is fairly close in Windows Explorer. Just different from what I am used to.
